XanaduBook by Douglas Carter Beane Music & Lyrics by Jeff Lynne & John Farrar Based on the Universal Pictures film Screenplay by Richard Danus & Marc Rubel October 7-9, 14-16, 2011 A beautiful Greek muse, Kira, descends from the heavens of Mt. Olympus to Venice Beach, California in 1980 on a quest to inspire a struggling artist, Sonny, to achieve the greatest artistic creation of all time--the first roller disco! But when Kira falls into forbidden love with the mortal Sonny, her jealous sisters take advantage, and chaos abounds. This hilarious, roller skating, musical adventure about following your dreams despite the limitations others set for you, rolls along to the original hit score that includes “Magic”, “All Over The World”, “Suddenly”, “I’m Alive”, “Evil Woman” and “Have You Never Been Mellow,” and is based on the cult classic movie of the same title, which starred Olivia Newton-John and Gene Kelly. It’s hilarity on wheels for adults, children and anyone who has ever wanted to feel inspired.
Elton John & Tim Rice’s Aida Music by Elton John Lyrics by Tim Rice
Elton John and Tim Rice’s Aida is a contemporary musical take on a grand classic saga of the timeless bond between an enslaved Nubian princess and an Egyptian soldier. As forbidden love blossoms between them, the young lovers are forced to face death or part forever. Together, they set a shining example of true devotion that ultimately transcends the vast cultural differences between their warring nations, heralding a time of unprecedented peace and prosperity. The Tony Award-winning pop-rock score by Elton John and Tim Rice opens this enduring tale to a new generation, while staying true to the inspiring love story of Verdi’s opera.
